The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation
Contracting is the UK industry's independent, regulatory
body.
NICEIC maintains a Roll of Approved Contractors that
are inspected every year to check that their work meets
the national safety standard BS 7671 (the IEE Wiring
Regulations) and other relevant technical standards.
The NICEIC has wide support from the electrical industry,
professional bodies and consumer groups. The National
Inspection Council consists of representatives from
75 bodies including the Electricity Association, Public
Electricity Distributors, the Institution of Electrical
Engineers, the Institution of Incorporated Engineers,
the Consumers' Association and many other notable organisations
having an interest in electrical safety.
